Trainings

Supporting Community-Based Workers

Better Health Together (BHT) partners with community-based organizations to support a skilled, supported workforce across our network. Beginning in February 2026, select trainings will be required annually for partner participation. Community-Based Workers (CBWs) will complete HIPAA, Mandatory Reporting, and Foundational Safety Training: Home Visits, while Supervisors will complete HIPAA. These trainings help ensure shared expectations, protect client safety and privacy, and support high-quality care coordination across our communities.

Available Trainings

CBCC 101: Care Coordination Standards

CBCC 101 introduces the shared care coordination standards used across the Community-Based Care Coordination (CBCC) network. This training guides participants through the full care coordination process—from building trust and engaging community members to assessing needs, supporting care plans, and connecting people to services. The focus is on consistent, person-centered practices and clear documentation to support high-quality, equitable care across partners and communities.

CBCC: Complex Care

CBCC Complex Care is an in-depth training for those supporting individuals with multiple, overlapping health and social needs. The curriculum focuses on advanced client engagement, care planning, and health history documentation, with an emphasis on coordination across systems and partners. Participants strengthen their ability to support long-term, person-centered care for clients with complex needs.

HIPAA & IT Security Training

This HIPAA and IT Security training is designed for community health workers, community-based workers, peer supporters, and others entrusted with client health information. The course covers privacy, confidentiality, and safe handling of sensitive data in real-world community settings. Participants gain practical tools to protect client information, meet compliance requirements, and maintain trust while supporting coordinated care.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing builds skills for having respectful, collaborative conversations that support behavior change. This training emphasizes active listening, empathy, and meeting people where they are—helping clients identify their own goals and build confidence in next steps. These skills can be applied across care coordination, outreach, and client engagement work.

Trauma-Informed Care / Trauma Stewardship

This training offers a trauma-informed approach to support CHWs, CBWs, supervisors, and partners in understanding how trauma shows up for individuals, teams, and systems. Participants explore ways to care for clients and support one another while building resilience and reducing burnout. The focus is on awareness, compassion, and practical strategies that strengthen trauma-responsive and sustainable care environments.
