Director of Community Voice & Engagement
About Alex
Alexandra (Alex) Panagotacos brings over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit and public sectors, with a focus on strategic community engagement, program design, and coalition building rooted in equity and justice. A lifelong advocate for community-driven change, Alex supports BHT’s Community Voice & Engagement efforts by uplifting the leadership of community members, social care providers, and those most impacted by health inequities.
Before joining BHT, Alex served as Director of Strategic Partnerships at Washington State’s Department of Social and Health Services, where she helped implement the 10-Year Plan to Dismantle Poverty and supported the reimagining of the Washington Economic Justice Alliance Advisory Council. Her work has included developing statewide engagement initiatives at the Nonprofit Association of Washington, expanding anti-violence programming across rural Eastern Washington through Rural Resources Community Action, and facilitating culturally responsive campaigns in collaboration with Tribal communities and immigrant-led organizations.
Alex is passionate about building structures for shared power, strengthening the community-based workforce, and co-creating systems that reflect the wisdom and needs of those most often left out. She splits her time between her Spokane cohousing community and the woods, where she finds joy in birdwatching, watercolor painting, and channeling her ancestors as she makes Galaktoboureko.
