Overview of Trainings in August and September

NOTE: January Cohort and August Cohort members are required to attend at least one Trauma Informed Approached (TIA) or Motivational Interviewing (MI) training to count for their month of August attendance. Any of the below trainings count toward this requirement, unless otherwise noted.

We would like to thank all of our partners for responding with their feedback and needs for trainings. There are several different trainings that we will have taking place in the August and September months.

For our contracted Partnering Providers, attending one of these trainings (TIA or Motivational Interviewing) will count as your Learning Cohort attendance for the month of August.

Please note our SDoH partners are welcome to attend as well.

If you have any additional questions feel free to e-mail Charisse Pope at charisse@betterhealthtogether.org

Trauma-Informed Care Training - August 20 & 22

We would like to invite all of you to our two scheduled trainings taking place in August. Frontier Behavioral Health and Better Health Together will be hosting these two separate trainings for Trauma-Informed Care. Both trainings will take place at the Philanthropy Center.

  • Behavioral Health Training – Tuesday, August 20th, from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm

  • SDOH/Physical Health Care Training – Thursday, August 22nd, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Trauma is a nearly universal experience. More than half of the general population and 90 percent of those served within the public mental health system have experienced trauma.

Trauma’s capacity for altering everything about a person, from worldview to coping skills, is why Frontier Behavioral Health (FBH) and other healthcare providers nationwide have integrated the principles of Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) into their organizational practices and service delivery models.

In 2015 FBH was selected, along with 20 other behavioral health providers from around the country, to participate in a year-long TIC Learning Collaborative. Since that time numerous TIC concepts have been implemented throughout the organization. FBH is excited to share with community partners the story of our journey in becoming Trauma-Informed, including strategies we have employed and lessons learned.

CMTV will be live streaming this training and it will also be available through our website.

Motivational Interviewing - September 5 & 6

* 3rd Training added - September 25 & 26*

BHT will be offering training on Motivational Interviewing. This two-day workshop will feature Casey Jackson, LICSW, MAC and cover Skills and Strategies for Working with Resistance and Facilitating Change. Participants are eligible for 12 CEU's. The two-day training will be offered Sept 5 & 6, Sept 18 & 19, and Sept 25 & 26.

Based on research in both Motivational Interviewing and Technology Transfer, this training is based on the physics of behavior change and how to effectively incorporate these skills into your professional role to foster sustained behavior change in the clients/customers you serve. The training will teach functional assessment skills in practical conversation and identifying the strategies to better engage clients and identify a focus for change more efficiently. Aside from a didactic approach, there will be video examples, audience participation, and skill practice.

While these training will be free, we ask that you please be thoughtful in your commitment to this training. If we get a lot of commitments we will book a second training. So please add yourself to the waitlist if spots fill up.

TIA Scan Tools

If your organization would like to see where it is at on the Trauma-Informed Journey, please take one of the surveys here. They are relatively quick and if you take it and submit it to BHT, we will pay your organization $200 if you're in the portal. This is optional and not required!

This will also allow us to identify future training needs.
