Mobile Market and Green Schoolyards for THEZONE

A huge shoutout to THEZONE on receiving a $85k grant from the Smith-Barbieri Progressive Fund to help with two innovative projects to help with their efforts to revitalize Northeast Spokane!

THEZONE Mobile Market will partner with local farmers and grocers, and 2nd Harvest Food Bank to bring healthy and fresh groceries to low-income housing developments in a retro-fitted “grocery-on-wheels” food bus.

Green Schoolyards in THEZONE is a partnership with Project Hope, that will allow for the creations of gardens and greenhouses in local area schoolyards. These green spaces will be an amazing resource for staff, students, and community members to learn about gardening and nutrition.

These kind of collaborative projects are exactly what our community needs to transform health, and we are thrilled for THEZONE’s achievement.
