OHSU Evaluators Conducting MTP Provider Survey in early 2022

Beginning February 2022, independent evaluators from the Center for Health Systems Effectiveness (CHSE) at OHSU will be conducting a Medicaid-focused survey of select practices and hospitals. The survey is part of the independent evaluation of the Medicaid Transformation Project (MTP) being conducted for Washington’s federal 1115 Medicaid waiver from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

This survey will be sent to all hospitals in the Better Health Together region, as well as practices that responded to a prior survey in 2019. If this describes your organization, we ask that you be on the lookout for an invitation from MTP_evaluator@ohsu.edu with a link to a survey platform, Qualtrics.

The questions will take about 15 minutes to answer and participants will receive a $100 gift card for completing the survey. CHSE is asking survey recipients to answer a brief set of questions about payment, workforce, and health information technology. For example, they will ask questions about:

  • Payments dependent on meeting quality goals

  • Ability to hire or retain clinicians and staff

  • Uses of electronic health records to accomplish

  • What financial investments were made in 2021 if any?

Findings from an earlier survey (focused on 2016-2018) showed decreased ability of practices to hire or retain needed team members and increased health information exchange capabilities. Continuing to understand trends among hospitals and practices is critical to evaluate the MTP over time.
